Changing your District 65 account password is easy on Macs. See the video below and follow along. This is possible both on or off District 65 wi-fi, but the process is more straightforward when performed on the district's network.
Regardless of your location, you'll need to come up with a new password that's both secure, and that you can remember. Technology Services recommends using this method. New passwords must be 12+ characters in length, and use characters from three of the following four categories:
- Uppercase letters
- Lowercase letters
- Numbers
- Special characters (*$&@^!%:;\|[]{}<>,.?)
Don't use a password you use anywhere else. This will be the password you'll use only for logging into your M1 MacBook, your Google account, and other District 65 computers and services.
How to tell if your password is expiring
You will receive a notification from Jamf Connect that states "Your Azure password is about to expire. Please change it now." This message will stay in the upper right corner of your screen until you click it or click the x to remove it.
With or without the message present you will be reminded how many days you have left until your password expires next to the Jamf Connect logo. Keep in mind that after you change your password the countdown may not reset or be removed until at minimum the next day.
When you open the Jamf Connect menu, you will see how many days you have until your password expires there as well.
Changing your Password On District Property:
- Click the jamf logo in your menu bar.
- Click "Change Password".
- Type your current password in the first box.
- Type your new password in the "New Password" and "Verify" boxes.
- Click "Change Password"
Note: It may take a few minutes for your new password to propagate to Google Workspace, Gmail, etc. If you are unsuccessful, please send a ticket to support@district65.net.
Changing your Password Off District Property
- Click the jamf logo in your menu bar.
- Click "Change Password".
- A Microsoft login window will appear. Type in your full email address then click "next".
- On the next page, type your current password then click "sign in".
- Perform multi-factor authentication. Tap "Approve" or type in your code, as appropriate.
- You will be presented with a window to change your password. Type your current password in the "old password" box.
- Type your new password in the "create new password and confirm new password" boxes.
- Click the green "Submit" button
- Once the next page loads, click the "Done" button at the bottom of the window.
- You will be presented with the following window. Click "OK"
- The jamf connect window will appear, delete the contents of the "Password" box and type your new password. Then click "Sign In".
- Finally, you will be presented with a message that states that your computer and District 65 account passwords do not match. You will need to enter your OLD password and click the "Sync" button. (This will change your computer password to match your new District 65 account password.)
Note: It may take a few minutes for your new password to propagate to Google Workspace, Gmail, etc.
Troubleshooting:
If you receive the error "This password does not meet the length, complexity, age, or history requirements of your corporate password policy," that means the new password you chose was not at least 12 characters, did not have a combination of upper and lower case letters, numbers, or symbols in it, and/or was a password you've used before. Try another new password that meets the password criteria.
If you can't log in with the new password, make sure you're typing the new password correctly. If you're certain you are, wait another few minutes. If it still doesn't work after that, you may have inadvertently included an unintended character in your new password, and you may need a password reset. In this event, please have a coworker submit a support ticket on your behalf, or contact the Help Desk at x4444.
