This KB article is specific to the Creative T100 powered bluetooth speakers, but the general instructions will apply to any bluetooth audio device.
Make sure the speakers are plugged in to power.
Press the power button to turn on the speakers.
There is a small LED light in the speaker with the controls. If the light is red, the speakers have power but are not turned on. If the light is blinking blue that means that it is trying waiting for a device to pair to it.
Put the speaker into "pairing mode" by holding the "source toggle" button down for about 4 seconds
This button is the one above the volume controls.
Pairing your Macbook to the speakers.
Open Bluetooth settings in System Settings
To get to Bluetooth settings:
click on the "control center" in the top right top menu bar. Click the ">" next to the bluetooth panel.
Click on "Bluetooth Settings..." to get to the bluetooth System Settings.
Connect to the speaker that is searching for connections
In Bluetooth settings, your Mac will automatically start looking for available bluetooth devices that are sending out their "pairing request". When it appears, click on the "Connect" button. It will take a few more seconds for the Mac and the Bluetooth speaker to fully connect. You may hear the speaker beep to confirm that it has a connection.
When the speaker is actively connected, the LED light will be a 'solid' Blue.
Once the speaker is paired, your device will automatically try to connect when the spaker is on and your Macbook is close enough to it.
Removing a Bluetooth device connection from your Macbook
This part can be done without being connected or near the speaker.
Open Bluetooth System settings as described above.
In the "My Devices" list. Click on the small "i" next to the device you want the mac to "forget"
In the menu that pops up, click on "Forget device" and then confirm that choice.
